About Me.

My name is Chantelle Kariuki and I am a pre-Med student at New York University, majoring in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. I chose this path because of my interest and passion for innovation in the medical field. I aspire to one day create ground-breaking technology and techniques that will revolutionise medicine. I believe the journey to become a future surgeon and engineer is the most important part of the process. Through this page, you will see my experiences, education, qualifications and my support system that are shaping the path to reach my goal.

I was born and raised in Kenya, where I grew up with my twin sister and parents who have played a key role in getting me to where I am today. Their support, encouragement, and their hard work and determination inspires me to push forward and reach for the stars. I attended Rusinga School in Nairobi, Kenya for high school and I am now based in New York City and graduating from NYU Tandon School of Engineering. After my freshman year, I was appointed to become a Global Leader and Scholar in STEM (GLASS) Honor's Student which has given me the opportunity to grow and enrich all avenues of myself. Through GLASS, I have been able to work on and improve my professional development, academic excellence, leadership development, global competency and commitment to service. The program has pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me realise the power in education and my responsibility to initiate change with the knowledge I gain and the skill set I acquire during and after my undergraduate journey. Through the GLASS funding, I have been able to travel to many different places, participate in many workshops and courses offered outside of the university, and immerse myself in different cultures to do service work in a community or attend conferences. My three year journey with the GLASS program and the amazing opportunities I have received being one of their scholars is documented on this site.
